Mille Shopper

This pattern is in Danish.

Mille shopper is knitted from the bottom up. First, the bottom is knitted in double stitch, so that a piece of plastic or similar (should be water-resistant) can be inserted to create a stable bottom. Then, stitches are picked up along the sides so that the bag can be knitted in the round. In the middle of the bag, cables are knitted. Finally, stitches are cast off and new stitches are cast on to knit the double-knit handles. 

Make a test stitch to check the knitting tension before you start.

Goal:

• Height: 32 cm excluding handle, will become slightly longer in use.
• Length: 40 cm
• Width: 16 cm

Recommended needle size:

• 2 circular needles 7 mm (80 cm) or 1 circular needle 7 mm (120 cm). It may be an advantage to knit in the round on 2 circular needles at the beginning.
• Circular needle size 8 mm (120 cm).
• Optional 7 mm double pointed needles for knitting back and forth over the handles.

Materials:

• 750 g Ribbon Lux from LindeHobby (250 g=130 m).
• Thin plexiglass sheet: 38 cm x 15 cm.

Knitting tension:

• 10 stitches x 16 rows in stocking stitch on 7 mm needles = 10 cm x 10 cm
