The Begonia Beret is knitted from the bottom up. First, knit a rib (K1, P1) on needles size 2.5 mm to create a tighter opening to keep the beret in place. The rest of the hat is knitted on needles size 3.5 mm. Hide the rib behind some stockinette stitch, for a simple look. Then knit increases and then decreases to create the shape of the beret. Finally, make the small i-cord tip.

First, circular needles are used, while the top of the beret is knitted with double pointed needles or with the Magic Loop technique.

The beret is knitted in a simple knit/purl pattern while making increases and decreases.

When the beret is knitted, it does not have the sharp edge that you want in a beret. It has a more rounded shape. To achieve the correct size, it is therefore important that the beret is steamed and/or washed before use. The beret is stretched to the correct size while damp. The beret will keep its shape if you let it dry flat.

The beret should be stretched and dried in the same way during subsequent washings.

Tip: if necessary, take a plate with a diameter of 27 cm and shape the dish according to it. This way you are sure that the dish gets the perfect circular shape and the right size.

Make a test stitch to check the knitting tension before you start.

The pattern will be sent as a PDF file to your email after purchase.
